Research sites

Agricultural commodities

The main criteria in selecting a location for palm oil and coffee research were:

  1. Commodity production at forest margin that links with international supply chain
  2. Deforestation stage and risk
  3. Intactness of forests
  4. Existing projects/programs/works
  5. Potential for meaningful intervention
  6. Potential for a sustainable/successful business case.

Central Kalimantan and West Papua provinces are the main research sites for palm oil. Aceh Province and southern Sumatra (Lampung) were selected for coffee.
