IUFRO, CIFOR and ICRAF serve as focal points for scientific knowledge in the Collaborative Partnership on Forests (CPF). Since the establishment of the International Arrangement on Forests (IAF) in 2001, all three organizations have been active in providing the Forum and its member states with relevant scientific information. They have established various initiatives and partnerships that respond effectively to the information needs of policy makers and stakeholders at an international level. However, the full potential of these initiatives and mechanisms has yet to be realized.
The deliberations on a future IAF and the post-2015 Development Agenda provide member states, organizations and stakeholders with a unique opportunity to strengthen this link between science and policy.

The CIFOR-led Evidence-Based Forestry (EBF) initiative generates evidence for policy processes by carrying out targeted research and by building the body of relevant knowledge. Recently, EBF announced the results of a project that collected the Top-20 Questions of high priority for research and policy in forestry and landscapes. Learn more: www.cifor.org/ebf
The ICRAF-led/hosted ASB Partnership for the Tropical Forest Margins has generated policyrelevant research for addressing deforestation for over 20 years. The World Agroforestry Congress held periodically has convened researchers and synthesized relevant evidence for decisionmaking on forests and landscapes at multiple levels. The IUFRO-led Global Forest Expert Panels (GFEP), an initiative of the Collaborative Partnership on Forests, provide objective and independent global scientific assessments of key issues to support more informed decision-making at the global level.
