Sonny Mumbunan

Sonny Mumbunan is a researcher at the University of Indonesia’s Research Center for Climate Change (RCCC UI) where he currently coordinates the work on fiscal instruments for forest conservation and land-based emissions reduction. He also recently joined the World Resources Institute (WRI) Indonesia as a Lead Environmental Economist and research associate. He coordinates the country work for the New Climate Economics. He has served as policy advisor at the Executive Office of the President (KSP) and the President’s Delivery Unit for Development Monitoring and Oversight (UKP4) of the Republic of Indonesia. At these offices, he was a member of the substantive team during the negotiations for the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), and led the preparation of the blueprint for Indonesia One Data, among others. Sonny received his PhD in Economics at the University of Leipzig, Germany, for the work he carried out at the Helmholtz Center for Environmental Research (UFZ), Germany.
