Drylands, wetlands, grasslands, forests. These and other ecosystems around the world are being degraded at a pace that is putting life on earth at risk. The result is rapid biodiversity loss, which threatens food production, contributes to climate change and deepens social inequalities.

With 25 percent of the earth's terrestrial surface already damaged, the way out of this crisis is through landscape restoration. Fortunately, there are many solutions and success stories from communities and regions that are reversing this dangerous trend. CIFOR-ICRAF is working on many of these solutions, providing the evidence for a nature-based approach to restoring ecosystems, rebuilding productivity and helping to protect the critical services they provide like water and climate regulation.

As part of CIFOR-ICRAF's "Restoration for resilience" campaign to highlight unique tools and approaches designed to tackle the land degradation crisis, we have created the #Restore4All restoration community on Facebook to share ideas and stories from around the world.

Join the group and the conversation here. Visit our special editorial series here to learn more about restoration science and the many ways researchers are engaging with it and implementing solutions to help farmers, forest communities, governments and businesses make their land more productive, creating jobs and improving nutrition, livelihoods and wellbeing.
