Training in The Use of CarboScen Software

12 Jun 2017, Hotel Four Points by Sheraton

Adding or conserving ecosystem carbon can be an extremely cost-efficient way to mitigate climate change. However computing ecosystem carbon can be challenging in a dynamic landscape. Therefore, we have developed CarboScen.
In the training workshop, we practice the steps needed to estimate ecosystem carbon:

  1. Define land-use classes
  2. Predict future land-use changes
  3. Set carbon equilibrium densities (e.g. tons per hectare)
  4. Input transition speeds based on local or global data
  5. Include uncertainty
  6. Use CarboScen to compute future ecosystem carbon for a simulated land-use scenarios.
