Modeling Conservation and Development Outcomes: Training Course on participatory modeling, September 10-14, 2007, Vietnam

Interdisciplinary and action oriented approaches are gradually gaining ground and acceptance as important tools in conservation-development research. In this international research and training course we will provide an overview of such approaches, and explore some of these approaches to build visions of the future. To build these visions we will use participatory simulation modeling tools (using the STELLA software).

The course is hosted by Cat Tien National Park PMU (CAT TIEN PMU), Vietnam in collaboration with Center for International Forest Research (CIFOR), The World conservation Union (IUCN), WWF – the Global conservation organization, and Charles Darwin University (CDU). It is directed towards project personnel, PhD students and researchers with a focus on conservation and development issues in the tropics.

PRACTICAL ARRANGEMENTS:

The course takes place at the Cat Tien National Park. Transport from Ho Chi Min City to the venue will be arranged.

IMPORTANT: Participant should arrive in Ho Chi Minh City by 13.00 PM on Saturday, September 8, 2007. Participant will be back in Ho Chi Minh City by 11.00 AM, Saturday, September 15, 2007.

The course fee, that includes coverage of food, accommodation at Cat Tien National Park, local transport and course materials, will be US$ 900. Participant must pay for food and accommodation in Ho Chi Minh City, visa fees and airfare to and from Vietnam & health insurance.
