In the international year of deserts and desertification
The increasing importance of the environmental, social and economic functions performed by forests.
The Chilean Forestry Institute (INFOR) is hosting the II Latin American IUFRO Congress, International Union of Forest Research Organizations. The congress will be held in La Serena IV Region – Chile, October 23 to 27, 2006. Discussion themes will include: Forests, Environment and Society; Forests and Production; and Arid and Semiarid Zones.
