Biannual IUFRO Forest Landscape Ecology Conference: Sustaining Humans and Forests in Changing Landscapes

05 - 12 Nov 2012,

We have the pleasure to inform that the next biannual conference of the IUFRO Landscape Ecology Working Party will be held in Concepción Chile, between 5th and 12th November. This will be the first time that the Working Group will gather in Latin America.
Latin America offers new challenges to Forest Landscape Ecology due to its tremendous heterogeneity of ecosystems and diverse socio-economics conditions. South American forests represent a large fraction of the world’s biodiversity and, in turn, are characterised by progressive deforestation and degradation.  Particularly, Chile’s forest landscapes face substantial changes and play a significant role in sustaining humans.
