The Center for International Forestry Research (CIFOR) joins the Government of Indonesia at the Tropical Landscapes Summit: A Global Investment Opportunity in Jakarta on 27 and 28 April.
Indonesia’s position to shape and push the global shift towards a green economy, encourage investments in sustainable land use and achieve climate change mitigation at a global scale is the focus of the summit.
CIFOR’s Director General, Peter Holmgren, will engage in dialogue with the Indonesian Minister of Environment and Forestry, H.E Siti Nurbaya and prominent civil society leaders, development experts and CEOs on how to realize zero-deforestation commitments and achieve broader sustainable development goals.
Peter Holmgren will speak in three panels during the two-day conference, including the Opening Plenary on Day 2, which concerns the forging of public-private-people partnerships.
A key message will be the need for a multi-dimensional landscapes approach to the holistic recognition of the value of forests; and how people, public, and private sectors can apply these values in sustainable forest and landscape management.
The Tropical Landscapes Summit is hosted by the Government of Indonesia and led by the Indonesia Investment Coordinating Board (BPKM).
