The Power of One: Restoring Burkina Faso

Farmer and activist El Hadji Zorome Lassane has been fighting degradation and desertification in Burkina Faso since 1993. He’s personally restored 10 hectares of barren land, using mainly his own resources. Around 470,000 hectares of land in Burkina Faso are degraded each year through a combination of natural and human factors, but Lassane, other activists and local NGOs such as Tiipaalga are raising awareness across the Sahel region.
