World Forestry Congress 2015

Forests and People: Investing in a Sustainable Future

7 - 11 September 2015, Durban, South Africa
| |

Sustainable forest landscapes

Forestry has long been seen as a niche sector that can be managed in isolation. However, it has become clear that it is also necessary to manage the broader landscapes that host forests and shape the economies that influence the way land is used. This is especially important given that land and forest degradation is inextricably linked with poverty, food insecurity, and vulnerability to climate and disaster risks.

This event will highlight experiences from various countries, covering such themes as multi-purpose planted forests, integrated management of rural landscapes, and landscape restoration.
