An update on fires and haze across Southeast Asia

Forest fires and the resulting choking haze in Southeast Asia is an urgent and evolving issue. June 2014 has already seen a rise in the number of fires in Sumatra despite efforts to prevent reoccurrences, and Southeast Asia is facing a year forecast to be drier than usual.

Last year CIFOR published a Q&A feature about the fires and haze that, given recent developments and new research, has now been updated. Read the Q&A feature here.

You can also listen to CIFOR scientist David Gaveau talk about the latest news on haze and current research efforts in Sumatra in this video of Science@10, CIFOR’s knowledge sharing sessions.
