Margaret Kwamboka Arwari holds a MSc. in Agricultural Economics from the University of Fort Hare, South Africa. She currently works as a research assistant at the Centre for International Forestry Research in the thematic area: Value chains, Finance and Investments. Prior to this, she has some experience as a consultant trainer in the realm of agricultural value chains and food security. She has also done some lecturing work at the Co-operative University of Kenya in the past. Margaret’s research experience journey has significantly been shaped by her research assistant role at the Agricultural and Rural Development Research Institute at the University of Fort Hare in South Africa. In that capacity, she co-authored two papers commissioned by the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD) on farmer co-operatives and associations. Margaret nurtures a keen interest in development issues: value chain development, forestry, environmental protection & climate change adaptability, sustainable finance & investments in agroforestry & market development, and Geographical and Information & remote sensing systems.
