Bimbika is dedicated to working at the intersection of research and policy-practice to drive gender equality and advance women’s economic empowerment in the Asia Pacific region. Her association with CIFOR-ICRAF dates back to 2013 when she joined CIFOR as a post-doctoral research fellow, taking on the role of coordinating gender and social inclusion research. Her research is centered on women’s economic empowerment in the context of environmental and agrarian change, with published works focusing on collective forest governance, the impact of migration and multi-local livelihoods, and climate change initiatives, among other areas. Holding a PhD in Development Studies, Bimbika, a Nepali national, has lived and worked in various locations, including Nepal, Vanuatu, Indonesia, and the Philippines.
