What can plantation developers do to protect endangered species? How can seagrass meadows and mangroves mitigate more carbon emissions? Are forest tenure schemes successful in helping communities prosper?
In partnership with the Center for International Forestry Research (CIFOR) and others, Indonesia hosted the third Asia-Pacific Rainforest Summit (APRS) in Yogyakarta. From 23-25 April, more than 1,200 actors from government ministers to expert conservationists came together to collaborate on regional issues, Paris Agreement commitments, REDD+ and the Sustainable Development Goals.
CIFOR scientists were at the forefront of the event, leading discussions and sharing the latest research on blue carbon, ecotourism, peatlands, community forestry and more. Read our wrap-up for highlights, and stay tuned for further coverage.
