Indonesia has taken a global lead in adopting the European Union’s new timber legality license (FLEGT), making a smooth transition from an existing national system (SVLK). A national policy dialogue in Jakarta brought together more than 200 policy makers, scientists, business owners, craftsmen and more to come up with ways for both licenses to benefit small- and medium-sized enterprises, supporting trade, conservation and livelihoods.
