CIFOR has been developing the sustainability verification architecture, which ensures sustainable growth can be scientifically measured across a number of categories, ranging from improved biomass to improved farmer outcomes. "The innovative elements of the verifier, are first, that we define a small number of standardised sustainability indicators that can be measured independently," says CIFOR’s Director General Peter Holmgren.
