State Losses Much Bigger. No Time to Lose in Peatland Restoration

The losses caused by Indonesia's forest and peatland fires between June and October 2015 were higher than the economic value resulting from the plantation activities in the affected areas, according to a World Bank estimate. Ann Jeannette Glauber, lead specialist inenvironment and natural resources global practices at the World Bank said the $8 billion estimate was based on a calculation from the Center for International Forestry Research (CIFOR).
