Biomass procurement in selected industries: Implications for a sustainable bioeconomy

Biomass procurement in selected industries: Implications for a sustainable bioeconomy

The conditions on earth are changing. Higher living standards, the desire for continuous growth and the aspiration for increasing welfare lead to the risk that more an more natural boundaries and regeneration capacities of the planet are passed over in a worrying way. Distinctive consumption societies in many parts of the world and persistent competitive thinking of nations has resulted in a situation that early warnings of established experts and scientists were ignored or not taken seriously. The economic activities induce an immense consumption of fossil resources as well as huge emissions of greenhouse gases. The consequential anthropogenic climate change and the related negative impacts are confronting the humanity with serious challenges.
