Timbulsloko: the sinking village in Demak District

Timbulsloko Village is one of the villages in Demak Regency, Central Java. This place is experiencing eroding and flooding due to anthropogenic activities. Now, the community must adapt to live in continuously flooded lands. The community in Timbulsloko tries to save their village by restoring and putting the mangroves back. The research team from CIFOR-ICRAF and partners try to learn the challenges on the ground. Produced by CIFOR, the video captures the activities implemented by The Restoring Coastal Landscape for Adaptation Integrated Mitigation (ReCLAIM) Project such as the recognition of blue carbon ecosystems by promoting evidence-based mangrove restoration for improved livelihoods, food security, and nutrition benefits to the coastal communities. Besides Demak, ReCLAIM will be implemented in Serang Municipality and Regency, Banten; and Banyuwangi Regency, East Java.
