The research will provide policy makers, development practitioners and rural households with accurate information on patterns of migration, flows of remittances and their influence on livelihoods, natural resource use and income distribution. The work builds on a strong gender perspective to understand how migration contributes to changes in forest-based livelihoods and landscapes, including through divisions of labour, voice and influence in decision-making processes at the household level and beyond.
