This project is contributing to an understanding of the interface between individual and collective tenure systems.

In particular, CIFOR is examining factors affecting women’s tenure security, collective enterprises, empowerment and the distributional outcomes of tenure security and insecurity at community and intra-household levels.

Our research is targeting areas where tenure reform is contemplated or underway, documenting outcomes in investment, productivity, equity or empowerment to maximize policy contributions.

As part of this project, CIFOR is identifying institutional innovations to improve collective resource governance arrangements that better align civil society organization, government and private sector interests, and strengthen pro-poor outcomes and gender-equitable control of natural assets.
