The aim of this project is to invigorate tropical forestry curricula in two ways.

Firstly, the project is developing a teaching framework in the form of modifiable modules that encourage systems thinking. Secondly, it is promoting interdisciplinary thinking skills using non-timber forest products (NTFPs) as a central thread.

The key activities that will be undertaken between 2013 and 2015 include an expert review of annotated outlines; the development of annotated outlines by individual consultancies for the African and Asian contexts; regional writing workshops; the production of educational material; a review and oversight of the technical soundness of the entire set of modules right before production; the production and dissemination of the modules (which were made open access on the CIFOR website); and the establishment of partnerships (most prominently with People and Plants International as they serve as a professional platform for networking and production issues).
