This projected focuses on the restoration and reclamation of mined-out areas and other degraded lands in Burkina Faso.

The objective is to contribute to the design of effective strategies for the recuperation of degraded land and ecosystems in post-mining areas for the benefit of poor local farmers.

In order to do so, a prior and thorough evaluation of the impacts of mining activities on woodland ecosystems, local livelihoods and local social and economic networks was conducted. In addition, an assessment of the natural and societal restoration potential of project sites was made.
