This project is supporting CIFOR’s Climate Change and Forests Initiative to provide research that will enable the construction of global and national Reducing Emissions from Deforestation and Forest Degradation (REDD) regimes, with emphasis on reducing emissions while managing risk to vulnerable communities.

It is also supporting CIFOR’s role in designing and implementing monitoring and evaluation arrangements for avoided deforestation pilots, including a synthesis of lessons learnt and comparative analysis, and with particular focus on all major REDD pilots funded by the Indonesia Forest Carbon Alliance (IFCI) in Indonesia and elsewhere.

This project will provide the Australian Government with early access to the results of CIFOR’s independent review and evaluation of avoided deforestation pilots.

Finally, we are coordinating knowledge-sharing and cooperation with other research bodies and consulting implementing agencies to achieve the objectives of this project.
