As a European contribution to the Observatory for the Forests of Central Africa initiative, the European Commission’s Joint Research Centre (JRC) has established the African Forests (FORAF) project with a consortium of scientific institutions led by the Centre de Coopération Internationale en Recherche Agronomique pour le Développement (CIRAD) (France) and comprising CIFOR (Indonesia), Forêt Ressources Management (FRM) (France), and the Université Catholique de Louvain (UCL) (Belgium).
The Observatory will present its results and analyses in reports, indicator tables, and maps through a website scheduled to be launched at the end of 2007.
Several outreach and training workshops will be held in the region to support the production of quality data and facilitate the use of such data in decision-making processes.
