The REFORCO project aims to improve the economic governance of natural resources, the sustainable management of protected areas, and the preservation of the biodiversity of the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC). More specifically, it seeks to improve the management capacity of ecosystems by initiating conservation actions for the four protected areas most representative of the country's biodiversity.
To achieve this, REFORCO is providing support to forestry training institutions in the DRC, specifically through support to training and forestry research at the University of Kisangani (UNIKIS).
By focusing on the in-country capacity the project contributes to the improvement of natural resource governance, the sustainable management of protected areas, and the preservation of biodiversity in the DRC.
