The primary aim of the project promoted by the grant is to prepare the ground for a strengthened dialogue platform in its role to foster exchange and capacity development related to the effects of globalized trade and investments on forests and forest-based livelihoods. The goal of the Project is to develop and share information on the patterns of engagement of emerging market multinationals andgovernments with institutions that govern access to natural resources and land, assess and mitigate forest-related impacts, and distribute benefits of economic development to people living in proximity to forests. The information generated by the Project will be used by CIFOR and GIZ to inform policies and guidelines of EMMs, producing country governments, and investing countries and lending institutions assessment and mitigation of environmental and social impacts related to investment activities.
