Research sites | Global Comparative Study on Forest Tenure Reform

Research sites

This three-year research program will be based on a literature review of existing cases, in- depth research in three countries and less in-depth comparative research in one additional country in Africa, Asia and Latina America. In-depth research will be carried out in Indonesia, Peru and Uganda to understand important experiences of forest tenure reform implementation, including reforms that have fallen short of securing community rights, including women’s rights, and where there are oppportunities for multi-stakeholder engagement for innovation and change in policy and practice.

Additional research will be conducted in Nepal, Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) and Colombia based on specific needs and opportunities. Additional research in these countries will aim to capture diversity in reform processes, conduct problem analyses and identify lessons learne. Research in these three countries will be limited to the analysis of laws, policies and strategies, and will involved in-depth key informant interviews.
