Overview of CIFORís dry forest research
CIFOR has research in several dry forest countries in West, East and Southern
Africa. These research projects aim to alleviate poverty through sound natural
resource management. We try to influence decision makers through various types
of policy dialogues and we try to highlight the importance of looking at both
poverty alleviation (economy), good governance and natural resources. Management
efforts that donít take all three components into account are unlikely to
function or be sustainable. We also try to generate income for rural poor
through better knowledge and management of non-timber forest products (NTFPs).
Forests can and should play a greater role in reaching the Millennium Goals. On
the left had side of your monitor you have links to our various projects.
