Born in Ethiopia in 1970, Tefera Mengistu received his first and second degree in Forestry from Alemaya University and Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences respectively. He did his PhD at Wageningen University. Tefera has been working as an assistant professor in restoration ecology and ecophysiology for over 13 years. He is now working as National Forest Sector Development Program Coordinator in the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change of Ethiopia. He is engaged in research projects and has published papers related to resource conservation, restoration of degraded lands and dryland plant physiology.
