Evidence-Based Forestry: Approaches and results in the Asia-Pacific region

Over the past three years, the Evidence-Based Forestry initiative has been supporting the use of robust research synthesis methodologies to inform decision-making in forestry and landscapes management. Systematic maps and reviews examine ‘what works’ in assessing the effectiveness of different policy interventions through the identification of the best available research evidence. At APFW, we aim to share this approach with research, policy and practitioner audiences from the Asia-Pacific region for broader uptake of this methodology, discuss lessons learned from our conduct of 18 such maps and reviews, and present our findings on the social and environmental impacts of national and sub-national forest policies in East and Southeast Asia.
