Forests and People: Investing in a Sustainable Future

7 - 11 September 2015, Durban, South Africa
Wednesday | 12:45 – 14:15 | Meeting Room 12B

Les forêts pour la sécurité alimentaire et la nutrition en Afrique Centrale

The forests of the Congo Basin provide non-timber forest products, including bushmeat, for some 30 million people in 150 ethnic groups. Since 2005, the Central African Forests Commission has endeavored to sustainably manage this historically informal sector to maximize its contribution to poverty reduction, food security and nutrition.

This event will highlight experiences and lessons from Central Africa, as well as subregional strategies for the sustainable use of non-timber forest products.
