World Forestry Congress 2015

Forests and People: Investing in a Sustainable Future

7 - 11 September 2015, Durban, South Africa
Wednesday | 12:45 – 14:15 | Meeting Room 22DEF

Developing benefit-sharing arrangements for REDD+

This side event draws on work in Peru, Mexico, Indonesia, the Democratic Republic of Congo, Cameroon and Tanzania to present insights on the factors that underpin effective benefit-sharing mechanisms, with a particular focus on land tenure, the actors engaged in REDD+ interventions (private sector or NGOs), and the gender dimension. Careful design of these mechanisms is critical to their application.

Speakers will present a framework that helps countries establish their own benefit-sharing mechanisms.
