Forests and People: Investing in a Sustainable Future

7 - 11 September 2015, Durban, South Africa
Friday | 12:45 – 14:15 | Hall 3C

The implementation of forest tenure reforms: What works, what doesn’t and how can implementation be strengthened?

Between large-scale agriculture, biofuel expansion and REDD+-oriented programs, the pressure to get land tenure right has never been greater.

This side event provides an opportunity for policy makers and practitioners to share insights into forest tenure reforms: what works, what doesn’t, and how efforts can be improved in Africa, Asia and Latin America. The aim is to generate a policy brief and a tenure working group to develop knowledge-sharing and capacity-building initiatives.
