The People of Baru Pelepat: Learning to Change (20 minutes)-
VCD. 2006.
Baru Pelepat Village, Jambi Province, Sumatra is one
of the pilot sites implementing the ACM approach in Indonesia. A
village may be a small unit, but problems faced by the people
represent complexities faced by most villages in Indonesia,
including in managing their natural resources. Not intending to
over-simplify the problems, this film tries briefly to describe
the situation in the village in the past, followed by ACM
learning cycles and subsequent changes. This documentary film
aims to share our findings and experiences, which we hope will
be insightful for others who have similar interests/activities,
i.e., sustainable and equitable forest management. CIFOR, Bogor,
Indonesia. Like the Learning by Doing film,
this one is built on the ACM team’s experience, but this one
focuses on the community of Baru Pelepat in Jambi, Sumatra,
Indonesia. It takes the viewer through the process of ACM,
showing the setting and the participants, as well as the steps
involved.
