Shaping Forests and Forestry for Sustainable Development
The Center for International Forestry Research is a nonprofit, global facility dedicated to advancing human wellbeing, environmental conservation and equity. We conduct research that enables more informed and equitable decision making about the use and management of forests in less-developed countries.

Indonesia and CIFOR
Indonesia, steward of a vast expanse of tropical forest, is the ideal home for CIFOR. CIFOR, committed to science for forests and people, is the perfect partner for Indonesia. Together, we have a 13-year history of collaboration in research on behalf of forests and the people who depend on them.

CIFOR's Strategy 2008–2018
We have developed a new strategy for a new era, through extensive consultation with staff and partners, including donors, policy makers, researchers, opinion leaders and nongovernmental organisations. This strategy will guide our work for the next 10 years to 2018.

Learning from REDD
CIFOR's multiyear Global Comparative Study on REDD+ aims to inform policy makers, practitioners and donors about what works in reducing emissions from deforestation and forest degradation, and enhancement of forest carbon stocks in developing countries
