Dr. Seong-il Kim is a leading scholar in forestry and sustainable development in Korea. He has been an active contributor in environmental policy through writing, public speaking, government committees, and NGOs involvement. He served the Councillor of IUCN as well as World Commission on Protected Areas (WCPA) Regional Vice-Chair for Asia between 2009-2012. In Korea, he served member of the Presidential Committee on Green Growth, and is incumbent co-president of Ecotourism Korea. His educational backgrounds cover from Forestry, Landscape Architecture (Seoul National Univ), Environmental Studies (Yale) and Tourism Sciences (Texas A&M). He has been a professor of Seoul National University teaching ‘Ecosystem Services and Society’ and ‘Ecotourism Development’ since 1992.
