Green Economy expert Dr. Andrea Bassi has confirmed that he will give a speech at Forests Asia Summit on how the green economy promotes resilient economic growth, while minimizing impacts on the environment.
The green economy is a vehicle to reach sustainable development. It integrates conservation and improvements in resource efficiency to increase resilience and inclusiveness. This can only be achieved if policies and investments are coordinated, so as to create synergies across the social, economic and environmental pillars of sustainable development.
The concept of green economy will be introduced, emphasizing the rationale for the use of a systemic and inclusive approach to development, especially in context of Asia. Methods to design green economy strategies will be presented, with the aim to identify win-win strategies for the short, medium and longer term, and provide insights on policy formulation and evaluation. Finally, examples will be provided to illustrate successes and failures, and learn from past experience.
