BOGOR, Indonesia (CIFOR) — The ASEAN-Korea Forest Cooperation (AFoCo) partnership aims to develop potential for green growth through regional training and academic activities that raise public awareness about forest restoration and sustainable forestry.
Its new “Landmark Program” — a joint development initiative created by the member states of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) and the Republic of Korea — takes a holistic approach to restoring degraded forests in Southeast Asia as a model for a greener Asia. The program was launched in March 2014.
In a session hosted by AFoCo at the Forests Asia Summit, delegates will discuss the role of forestry education and research in addressing the future challenges of and opportunities for sustainable forest management in Southeast Asia.
