The steep sides of Mt. Slamet, Central Java are known as the most potential landslides areas in this region. Despite the previous avalanches having occured, the Indonesian government have not yet taken action to suggest local people to divert their plants, from vegetables to water absorbing trees. Local farmers consider the long-harvest-period trees a problem for their economy and are unaware of the better benefits they will get from planting trees, most of all: to prevent heavier landslides from happenning.
