Photographer’s remarks

Humans are greedy. They sacrificed nature recklessly. They forget that there is a price to be paid by future generations as a result of their behavior. They ignore the pollution caused by mercury, heavy metal residues which continue to cause impact on their descendants. Taken at Mandor Nature Reserve, West Borneo, Illegal gold mining in the conservation area has occurred since 1999—and continues to happen. Most miners are migrants, local people become victims. They have been warned, but they were stubborn. They argue that no bad impact of mercury for themselves. The remaining thing for surrounding community is damage.
