This is an image of a monkey in a tree taken in Malaysia. The importance of rain forests is undeniable. They regulate our climate, prevent erosion, provide food and shelter for many species including humans. Deforestation has had a devastating effect on many animal species such as the great apes and other primates. The loss of their habitat has pushed many species to become endangered. The conversion of rain forests into cultivation has also created conflicts between animals and human population.
