Photographer’s remarks

They claim that they do this because of the demands of subsistence needs. Our search shows the contrary. They are driven by a group of investors which were actually rich. They are poisoning the environment with mercury. Heavy metals that can cause permanent disability to their descendant. Imagine when people around Kapuas River, which is a lot, are impacted by a thing that they did not do. Some of miners may be poor, some may actually need to eat. But, the damage they produce is by far greater. In the background was Mount Sanghiangan which is the habitat of orangutans.
