Workshop on Central African non-timber forest products (NTFPs) in Douala, Cameroon, 17–18 May 2010
About 30 experts from Central Africa participated. Workshop goals included:

to highlight the importance of NTFPs in the countries concerned
to develop a realistic method for collecting data on NTFPs in African countries, especially ACP FORENET partners
to make proposals to harmonise regulations and policies affecting NTFPs in Central Africa.

Donald Midoko Iponga of IRET was appointed as the new focal point for Central Africa in November 2009.

The third Steering Committee meeting in Brussels, Belgium, 6–8 July 2009

FORENET workshop on developing a cross-continental research project in Bogor, Indonesia, 26–30 January 2008
Three focal point people organised this workshop at CIFOR's campus in Bogor to develop a research project focusing on climate change and tropical forests. The three organisers were:
- Dr Joseph Okouyi Okouyi from IRET/CENAREST in Gabon
- Ms Vanessa Benn from Iwokrama International Centre in Guyana
- Mr Forova Oavika from Forest Research Institute of Papua New Guinea.

Project management meetings Guyana, 16–20 June 2008
The first Scientific Advisory Group meeting and Second Steering Committee Meeting of the ACP FORENET project were held in Georgetown and at the Iwokrama Field Station. Participants in the Advisory Group meeting included 12 members from Australia, Belgium, Canada, Central African Republic, France Gabon, Guyana, the Netherlands, New Zealand, Papua New Guinea, and Republic of the Congo. The advisory group was assisted by the project coordinator and the regional focal point people. The Steering Committee meeting was attended by donor representatives and by all project partners except Papua New Guinea, and by observers from the Iwokrama International Centre and from the Guyana Forestry Commission.
