Project management structure
The overall management structure is summarised in this organigramme of the
project.
A Steering Committee composed of 6 members, donor representatives and
project partners oversees project implementation and is assisted in
scientific matters by a Scientific Advisory Group composed of a pool of
around 20 international scientists. The Scientific Advisory Group functions in an advisory capacity
and is responsible for ensuring scientific rigour and advice on training needs.
Overall project coordination is undertaken at the interregional level by an
ad hoc Project Coordination Agency. The agency's role is to provide
general administrative and financial oversight of project implementation,
backstopping to the local partners, ensure scientific coherence and pertinence
of project activities and consolidate annual progress reports to the donors. For
each region (the Guianas, Central Africa and the Pacific) I Regional Focal Point Organisation (RFPO) acts as the main implementing partner for the project.
