Miombo projectThis World Bank-funded 2-year project under the Trust Fund for Ecologically and Socially Sustainable Development (TFESSD) is implemented by the Center for International Forestry Research (CIFOR) in partnership with a number of institutions from Southern African countries. The purpose of the project is to leverage some responsiveness in the World Bank's economic dialogue with governments in the region on the importance of miombo woodlands to rural households and national economic development in Southern Africa. The project builds on regional strategic themes which emphasize tree management by small farmers and the landless poor for survival and for safety net functions. This work is expected to contribute to improved development outcomes in three important ways.
