Integrated landscape approaches for agriculture, forestry and other land uses


The “land sparing” vs. “land sharing” debate that often emerges in the context of competing land uses tends to be presented as a black or white dichotomy. But the question of how to maximize the overall benefits of land use is highly nuanced and influenced by a range of interacting factors, be they geographic, ecological, economic, social or political.

In exploring these nuances, this Learning Event looked for tangible recommendations on how a landscape approach can contribute to positive overall outcomes for agriculture, forestry and ecosystem services provision.
