6. Policy-science dialogue to promote sustainable and equitable forest-based bioenergy
At national, regional, and global levels, the project
provides
information to relevant policy processes, including national
governments, civil society and corporations, the European Union, the
Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) and the United Nations
Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC). Exchange of information
and experiences between regions and countries is organised through
a multi-level participatory scenario process in each regional (Africa,
Asia, Latin America), participation in global fora, publications and the
project website.
Science-policy meetings at the national and regional scale
Regional-level workshops facilitate the
exchange of information and experiences, and facilitate
co-development of a set of scenarios for bioenergy development designed to enable policy makers to look ahead and make more strategic
and responsible decisions on how to support and regulate the industry.
South-South meetings on the exchange of experiences in
sustainable and equitable bioenergy development
Special attention is paid to promoting the exchange of information
and knowledge between developing countries. Meetings are carried out
jointly with other events, such as the 'Forest Day' organised by CIFOR
and CPF partners at the UNFCCC COP.
Participating in international processes
The results and findings of this project are communicated into international processes (when appropriate), including the
Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) and COP and the SBSTA
of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC).
