Introduction

The project includes general (global) analyses of different aspects related to sustainable forest-based bioenergy development. It is conducting case studies in selected countries in Southeast Asia, sub-Saharan Africa, and tropical Latin America. These countries were selected based on several criteria, including their potential for forest-based bioenergy development, past experience and data availability.

It organises exchange of information and experiences through national, regional and global-level workshops and meetings, and uses a clearinghouse of information in the project. In addition, the project provides information to the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) and the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC).
